January Video Game Wrap Up

I’m gonna start doing this monthly thing where I talk about all the games I’ve played during the month, partially because it’s always fun to talk about games and partially as an easy way to keep track of what I do with my life.

I didn’t end up gaming a lot this month because uni kept me extra busy, but I still managed to get some game time in on the weekends at least.

So what have I been playing?

Since I got a PS4 for Christmas I’ve been playing stuff on that quite a bit. I haven’t made a lot of progress with Horizon Zero Dawn yet, but I like what I’ve played so far. The photo mode in it is my absolute favorite thing. Have a silly screenshot:

Crash Bandicoot has also been a fun nostalgia trip but I’ve only made it to the second island of the first game and now keep getting stuck in every level for days, which is a little frustrating. That game is so damn difficult!

On the PC side I’ve been trying a lot of things a little bit, but there’s a few games that I have actually been devoting some time to.

Reigns: Her Majesty doesn’t need much extra explanation since I already reviewed it a while back, I love it and it’s relaxing. I’ve been so tired lately it’s pretty much all my sleepy brain can handle. Elder Scrolls Online made the list because I’ve been playing it with my friends a little bit, but I definitely should give some more love to it in the future.

Okami HD has been the game I’ve probably played the most this month. I have it on PS2 but that poor console of mine is so old it doesn’t function very well anymore, so of course I had to get Okami for PC as well so I can play it again (I’ve never actually finished it). The port is a bit wonky with the camera controls etc sometimes, but I’ve been having a good time. Okami is such a pretty game! I’m about 7 hours in now.

So yeah, this has been my gaming January. I actually got to cross off one of the letters from my ABC Challenge with Reigns: Her Majesty! Yay me!

Have you guys been playing anything fun this month?

  1. Horizon’s photo-mode is excellent. I’m almost ashamed to admit how many hours I spent using it last year! Ha ha ha

The Elder Scrolls Online is my current obsession, because it’s so easy to pick up and play. Perfect when you’ve been at work all day and just want to jump straight into a game.

  2. Some excellent gaming choices this month! I can safely say HZD was my favourite game from last year, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I’ve started a Fem Shep run of Mass Effect recently, as I’m curious to see how differently the characters and story play out; Male Shepard is fine but he is a little dull.

  3. Oh I started Horizon Zero Dawn recently too. Not far into it so far but I love the play style and the graphics!

Bouncing a lot between different COD games – went back to playing Black Ops 3 a fair bit this month actually. I miss it but the servers are terrible 😩

I need to get back to ESO at some point, I haven’t touched it for a while. And my untouched XBONE Gold games are piling up…

  4. I’ve mainly been playing Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed 2 this month. Like you, I’ve been neglecting ESO and Final Fantasy 14, so I need to give them some love next month. Don’t beat yourself up over Crash Bandicoot, you progressed further than me- I’m still on the first island and I’ve had the game since November!
